The first Edition of “Peace of Shit” was published in 2003 for the Yo! What Happened to Peace? Anti War Art Poster Exhibition. One of the most popular awareness posters in recent times, “Peace of Shit” has been re-editioned and re-printed on demand.

The image of a bevy of doves and droppings reference a historic photo of U.S. Air Raids on Tokyo during World War II.

Yuri Shimojo is a Tokyo-born, contemporary Japanese painter who lives and works between New York and Kyoto. In her youth, she practiced the Japanese traditional performing arts for 20 years as the tradition of her samurai lineage. She also spent many years between Hawaii and Brooklyn. These experiences between cultures have influenced her work throughout her life and continue to bring new sources of inspiration today.
